A license that has been expired for less than 18 months may be renewed online. Please click here to be directed to the login page.

Licenses expired over 18 months will require a renewal form available here to begin the renewal process. The form would need to be printed, completed, and submitted with the $100 fee to be paid by check or money order to the 'IPLA.'

If your license has been expired more than 3 years you will need to submit a renewal form, $100.00 check or money order (Made out to IPLA) and a copy of an active license from another jurisdiction.

If you do not have an active license in another jurisdiction, you will receive a notice to come before the Board for a Personal Appearance.

To change your address, you will need your name, date of birth, driver license or identification card number and last four of your social security number. Click here to change your address.

MVD has developed a computer system that links all of your records together. This means that when you change your address using your driver license number, it will automatically change the address on your vehicle registration and on each vehicle on which you are listed as the registration recipient.

Registration recipient is defined as the vehicle owner or registrant who is designated on the Motor Vehicle Division database to receive the registration for a vehicle.

If you are a company and need to change your address, mail in a signed request on your business letterhead. The request should include your old and new address along with a list of the vehicles you want changed. If all the vehicle addresses should be changed just indicate all. Mail this request to Motor Vehicle Division, PO Box 2100 Mail drop 504M, Phoenix, Arizona 85001.

The emissions test results are automatically updated within the Motor Vehicle Division system. You may keep your Arizona Vehicle Emissions Inspection Certificate for your records.

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) states that to avoid late penalties from the Motor Vehicle Division (MVD), all testing and repair must be completed prior to the registration expiration date. Vehicles failing the initial emissions test are not subject to a late registration penalty fee provided the test was conducted prior to the registration expiration date and the registration is renewed within 30 calendar days of the original test date. A penalty fee is assessed when your renewal registration payment is not received by the expiration date indicated on your vehicle registration form. To avoid the late renewal penalty, the registration must be paid by the 15th of the month or the last day of the month, whichever is applicable. When the expiration date falls on a Saturday, Sunday,or a recognized State holiday the registration fee becomes due on the next business day. The late renewal penalty fee is $8 for the first month of delinquency and $4 for each additional month, not to exceed a total penalty of $100.

If you do not receive a renewal notice before the end of the next registration period, you must still renew by the expiration date.

Trailers are registered based on usage (non-commercial or commercial) and declared GVW (gross vehicle weight). Non-Commercial usage with a GVW of 10,000 pounds or less is registered as Permanent. Commercial usage with a GVW of 10,000 or less is registered as one, two or five year registration. Trailers with a GVW over 10,000 are registered as permanent (see chart below).

Within the Vehicle Registration Renewal users will be asked to declare the intended usage on trailers that are registered with a GVW 10,000 or less. When used non-commercially permanent registration fees are assessed. Permanent registration is a one time fee and a “PERM” tab will be mailed to the owner. By registering as “PERM”, you’ll never pay vehicle license tax or registration fees again for this trailer.

Permanently registered trailers with a personalized and/or specialty plate are subject to the annual personalized and/or specialty plate fee.

Qualifying vehicles pay the standard vehicle license tax assessment.

Vehicles that display the Energy Efficient plate will be allowed access to the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in Arizona any time regardless of the number of occupants. However, these vehicles are not eligible for the reduced Vehicle License Tax.

Plates may be issued for a currently registered vehicle, registered or leased in your name.All personalized plates must be approved. The Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) mayrefuse to issue any plate that suggests a meaning that is offensive, misleadingor that duplicates any existing plate or plate series. Upon receipt of yourpersonalized plate, it must be placed on your vehicle. The plate that is beingremoved may not be placed on any other vehicle.

Renewal notices are printed approximately 45 days prior to the registrationdue date. If you ordered a personalized/specialty plate within the last 45days, then your renewal notice may not show your annual renewal fee for thepersonalized/specialty plate: however this fee will be displayed in ServiceArizonaand it is due when you renew your registration.

If you received a vehicle registration renewal notice from the Motor Vehicle Division for your All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and the fees within the renewal notice show the reduced fees, but the fees appearing within ServiceArizona.com show with the full fees, the most common reason for this is that the Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Decal is expired.

Prior to purchasing the ATV’s registration, please use the online Off-Highway Vehicle Decal application here to purchase the Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Decal.Prior to purchasing the ATV’s registration, please use the online Off-Highway Vehicle Decal application. Return to the Self Service Workstation's Service Arizona landing page and select that option to purchase the Game and Fish Off-Highway Vehicle Decal.

Once you have completed the online Off-Highway Vehicle Decal transaction for your ATV, please return to the online Vehicle Registration Renewal application and complete the ATV’s registration renewal.

If after renewing the ATV’s Off-Highway Vehicle decal, the registration renewal fees still show with the full fees, do not complete the renewal transaction, instead contact the Motor Vehicle Division. To avoid the late renewal penalty you must renew by the expiration date.

The Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act 18 U.S.C. 2721-2725, as well as Title 28, Chapter 2, Article 5 of the Arizona Revised Statutes, specifies that the personal information contained in your vehicle record may not be released to anyone without your consent, except when it is a matter of public health and safety, or when the individual or entity requesting such information is otherwise authorized to obtain it under federal law. However, during the renewal process, you may consent to the release of your driver license and vehicle record information to any individual or entity that makes a proper request. This consent would apply to all owners of this vehicle

You may pay with credit/debit/check cards. Check cards are linked to checking accounts and are accepted anywhere credit cards are accepted. Debit/Check card purchases are automatically deducted from the linked checking account.

In addition, some Kiosks are equipped with cash and check acceptors.

ServiceArizona is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day with the exception of the following time periods:

Transactions cannot be performed during the scheduled maintenance periods:

• Between 11:50 PM and 12:10 AM daily; and
• Between midnight and 2:00 AM each Sunday.
