AXIS Media Control add-on stopped working after IE11 download. Here is what I have learned.

Go here for latest AMC download version:http://www.axis.com/techsup/cam_servers/dev/activex.htm It is available free and you do not have to sign in.

After update go to camera site and hit F12 to bring up Developers tools.Under Emulation>Document mode, change Edge (Default) to 10 in the drop down menu.Camera image will download in a few seconds. It will refresh or stream.BUT DON’T CLOSE THE DEVELOPER TOOLS.This causes the image to disappear. This works at this site: https://itservices.uchicago.edu/page/university-webcams

This works differently at this site: http://www.floridakeyswebcams.tv/ After AMC update, right click on web camera link and choose “Open link in new window” from the drop down list. Then proceed as above.

Two problems 1) you have to do this every time you want to view the camera.IE11 goes back to default when either the viewing window or developer tools is closed.2)I guess IE must automatically check after a few seconds because it only allows a few refreshes of still images before it displays a window that says IE is having problems and needs to close.Or it may just be a problem with this site http://www.floridakeyswebcams.tv/.

It seems to happily stream as long as the developer tools stay open. You can drag them down out of the way but don’t close them.

This adjustment in Document mode worked at other camera sites not using AMC as well.

BTW I have unchecked Enhanced Protected Mode because the window at the bottom of the page that used to offer to disable it, doesn’t work very well in IE11, and sometimes it doesn’t even appear.

Finally, I am not a developer and don't understand this stuff. I just learned that if you change Document mode to 10, stuff on the web page works again.

If anyone knows a less complicated method I would like to know it. Thanks in advance.

Hello Carmine,

I apologies for the late response.

I would suggest you to boot the computer in Normal Startup Using System Configuration and check if the issue persists.

To do so, please follow the steps given below:

1. Click on the Start button.

2. Type “msconfig” (without any quotes) in the start search box and press Enter.

3. System Configuration windows will be open.

2. Click on the General tab located at the top of the System Configuration window.

3. Then choose the Normal startup radio button (on the General tab) and then tap or click on Apply and Ok.

4. You'll be prompted with the restart your computer question. Then click on Restart.

Your computer will restart and Windows will start normally.

Refer the link: Using System Configuration

Note: Do not make changes in System Configuration other than those outlined here to avoid causing serious system issues. This utility controls a number of startup activities other than those involved with Safe Mode.

Note: After troubleshooting, refer to this section ‘How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting’.

Hope this information is helpful. Please do let us know if you need assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.

Thank you
